Products and scope
B2 Cloud Storage and B2 Overdrive serve different storage and transfer needs. Computer Backup is a separate product. B2 stores objects rather than running your application processes. A typical setup keeps the web application on a compute host and sends uploads or backup archives to B2 through an S3-compatible client. Computer Backup is a separate service, so a desktop-backup subscription should not be treated as an application bucket. Transfer planning is important for a photo archive, download service or media library: the free allowance depends on average stored data, and partner delivery arrangements can change the charge. Recovery also involves more than leaving one copy in a bucket. Keep a usable inventory of backup sets, access credentials and retention settings, then verify that your application can read the exported files. Overdrive targets a much larger commitment than an ordinary small-site bucket. Compare it only when the scale and transfer requirements justify that separate product.
Billing and pricing
B2 starts at US$6.95 per TB per month. Free egress covers up to three times average monthly stored data; further egress normally costs US$0.01 per GB, with partner exceptions. Class D API transactions have separate charges.

Before you buy
Overdrive requires a multi-petabyte commitment. Plan retention, access controls and recovery testing separately from the storage bill.
