About Aiven
Products and scope
PostgreSQL, MySQL, Valkey, OpenSearch, Kafka and other data services. Compare each service separately rather than treating the platform as a single VPS package. Aiven operates databases, caches, search and streaming services on cloud infrastructure. Each service needs its own plan: purchasing PostgreSQL does not also reserve a Kafka cluster or an application server. PostgreSQL tiers differ in node count, recovery retention and high availability, as well as memory and disk capacity. Free and Developer have restricted cloud and region selection, which can matter before an application has any traffic. For a production database, the ability to recover recent writes may be more important than the cheapest opening plan. For a multi-service application, add each service’s cost and identify which data crosses service boundaries. Bring Your Own Cloud is a different arrangement because the infrastructure runs in your own cloud account. Compare that complete bill with the provider-operated option. A managed database resource figure should not be interpreted as root-access hosting for arbitrary workloads.
Billing and pricing
PostgreSQL Developer lists US$5 per month with 1 CPU, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. Paid services use hourly billing with monthly invoices; extra storage and upgraded support can change costs.
Regions and availability
The PostgreSQL Free and Developer tiers do not let customers select a specific cloud or region. Higher tiers have different infrastructure choices.
Support
Developer support is best effort by email. Additional support tiers are available at a separate charge.
Before you buy
Developer is meant for development, not production. Backup retention and high availability differ by tier. It is a managed database service, so you do not get server root access.
Counts describe the records published on HostCritiq, not every offer Aiven sells. Prices can differ by billing term, region, currency and tax. Open a plan for its full terms.
