Application hosting

Hosting NocoDB

A self-hosted workspace that exposes database records through an application interface and API. The current setup includes background processing and data services, so plan for the whole stack.

Understand the setup

Check runtime, storage and installation requirements before choosing a server.

Budget your resources

Allow room for the operating system, database and your actual workload.

Must have

Installation requirements

  • Docker Desktop or Docker Engine for the container setup.
  • Persistent volumes for PostgreSQL, Redis and application data.

Planning guidance

Use the resource planner to size a server for your workload.

No official hardware minimum for NocoDB

The local quickstart does not establish a universal production CPU or RAM minimum. Imports, exports, automation and stored data determine the workload.

Deploy with

Supported paths

  • Local Compose quickstart
  • Single-server installer
  • Custom infrastructure

The host must provide

Runtime

PostgreSQL
Metadata and application data in the current stack
Redis
Caching and job queue
NocoDB worker
Background imports, exports and automation

Storage

Persistent data

The Compose quickstart keeps postgres_data, redis_data and nocodb_data in named volumes. Preserve database records and attachments together.

Step by step

Plan a NocoDB deployment

  1. Review the stack

The quickstart is for local evaluation; use the single-server or custom-infrastructure instructions for a public deployment.

  2. Create the administrator

The first registered user becomes super admin. Complete this before making the instance available to others.

  3. Keep persistent data

Stopping containers is different from deleting their volumes. Back up data before upgrading images.

Security

Before you go public

  • Keep database and queue services private.
  • Protect administrator access and deployment secrets.

Cost

Beyond the server price

  • Budget all four services and retained data; enterprise features have separate terms.
